Our chief program is the Side by Side LGBT International Film Festival. An annual event held in October, we showcase the best in classic and contemporary lesbian and gay cinema from around the world at venues in Saint-Petersburg. Running alongside our program of feature, innovative independent films, documentaries, experimental and short films are a series of interactive panel and audience discussions dealing with a broad range of topics including coming out, religion, human rights, discrimination, the bearing and the raising of children, adoption, same-sex marriage, ageing, drug abuse, HIV/AIDS and gender reassignment. Providing a rich and diverse program that is not only of interest to the LGBT community but also to the general cinema-going audience in Saint Petersburg Side by Side aims to become a permanent fixture in the city’s cultural calendar.
The film festival has a competition: Best Feature, Best Documentary, Best Short and Audience Award.
The 2nd Saint Petersburg LGBT International Film Festival will take place on 23 – 31 October 2009.
We also produce other events throughout the year. Check our News page to see our most current events and programs.
